It's been a crazy week here in Sweden... The tenth of september, our minister of
foreign affairs was assaulted by a man with a knife in a shopping centre. She
suffered severe injuries and died during in hospital. That was the second murder
of a high politician in Sweden in modern time.
In 1986, the minister of state, Olof Palme, was murdered in the open street on
his way home from a theatre. The killer is still not found. Sweden is not an
unsecure country, but our politicians generally don't have lifeguards, something
most other countries find strange. However, with the recent years' saving in the
psychiatry, lots of sick and potentially dangerous people are out on the streets
instead of recieving proper treatment. This is the third murder by a psychically
unstable person this summer only, and in Stockholm only...
My condoleances to Anna Lindh's family, friends and co-workers...
She was a great politician and person.
